Comic Con and All That Jazz

At the airport -
Kristen's new haircut
The day before I posted our first blog entry, my girls came home! Kristen, Scarlett, and Felicity were in Utah for 2 ½ weeks, while I had a really long show in Hershey, PA. While I managed to get a lot of things done while they were gone, and the house was all in perfect order, and I had the whole bed to myself, and I got to eat out a lot…I sure missed them. I missed cuddles and kisses at bedtime, Scarlett being so excited when I get home, big grins from Felicity, and of course everything about my sweet wife. It sure was quiet in that house all alone…and a little bit lonely too.

Kristen as Inara (this is a
reenactment from the next day)
While they were in Utah, the girls had a grand ol’ time. Scarlett got to see Grandma, Granddad, and Mimi (my mom), she played outside a TON, got to eat a load of junk food, had a second birthday party with even more presents, and basically got to do whatever she wanted. Kristen got to go see a play, went out with old friends, and went to Comic Con SLC! She dressed up as Inara (Firefly) and Princess Leia. She also got to see her sister, 2/3 of her brothers, and her parents. She got a cute haircut too, and, oh yeah, she got to eat at Costa Vida a lot (which I plan on doing when we're in Utah in a couple weeks, just FYI).

We'll always have that Texas game...
While they were gone, I spent a lot of time fixing things up, organizing, and watching Netflix. I also went to see a movie, went go-karting / to dinner with a co-worker, and watched the BYU football game with people in my ward (speaking of BYU football, too bad the season's over now, eh?).

Then, from Sunday the 7th through Monday the 15th, I was in Hershey, PA for a trade show. The show had some long hours (9 a.m. – 8 p.m. most days), but I really enjoyed getting out in front of our customers.

On my drive from Baltimore to Hershey, I stopped in Gettysburg, which was awesome, and on a slower day during the week, I took a small road trip to Philadelphia to see our friends Janae and Richard. They have been our good friends since before we met (Janae and Kristen have been friends since middle school / were roommates, and Janae is a big part of the reason Kristen and I met). We had pizza and just hung out for a while. Janae said that because their oldest daughter, Lily, climbed all over me and smacked me in the face, we’re basically best friends now. So that’s awesome.

This is apparently Felicity's
standard expression
She loves sitting up
Other than those adventures, we're just settling in to being Minnesotans. We received new callings in our ward. I am first counselor in the Young Men's presidency and a ward pianist (a shared calling - shared with our bestie, Emily), and Kristen is the Primary chorister. The girls both had a checkup with the doctor. Scarlett is 63% weight and 72% height, and Felicity is 71% weight, 44% length. We found they (mostly) travel well - people on the plane(s) told Kristen how good they were.

My Girls

This weekend we're just settling in to General Conference, watching the live stream on YouTube so we can broadcast it to the Chromecast from my phone. I love technology. Have a great conference weekend!
